Privacy & your data

What we collect, and why

Kept works on financial information you choose to give it: income figures, wealth figures (savings, investments, ISAs, pensions), household details (age, marital status, number of children), and your email address for your account. We collect it for exactly one purpose — computing your tax position and the effect of reliefs. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.

The free calculator sends nothing

Everything you type into the calculator on the home page is computed in your browser and never transmitted or stored anywhere.

Where your data lives

Account data is held by Clerk (authentication) and your financial profile in Convex (database), both encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details. When you use the “explain my plan” feature, the computed figures (not your raw profile) are sent to Anthropic to generate the explanation and are not used for model training.

Deleting your data

You can erase your financial profile and account data at any moment with the button below, or by emailing hello@kept.tax. Deletion is immediate in our database. Your Clerk login itself can be removed from the account menu (“Manage account” → security), and Stripe retains only what payment regulations require it to keep.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export and erase your data, and to complain to the ICO. Write to hello@kept.tax for any of these — we respond within 30 days.
